Christmas Greeting…

Christmas in Sudan

Christmas in Sudan does not offer all the reminders that we are used to in the U.S. No Christmas trees, no lights, no decorated stores and very little mention of the season anywhere.

We do have two significant reminders through.

  1. Eternal life through Jesus the son of God that came was born a baby, lived as a man, died as a sinless sacrifice for our sins and rose again victorious over death, hell and the grave for each of us. That is the gift of Christmas, our celebration of the birth of Jesus.
  2. This large poinsettia tree in our front yard in Sudan.  We will not have a white Christmas or a Christmas tree.  It will be about 90 degrees, but this poinsettia that we see each day, does remind us of Christmas.

We are so grateful for  you, your prayers and love for us. We do wish you a Wonderful  Christmas and God’s blessing and provision of grace for the new year.

Notes from a Chat…

Posted on Friday 23 November 2007

Figured you all would enjoy a bit of an update from Dad and Mom from a chat I had with thme this morning.  A few questions and answers for ya…

How is the weather?

Weather is about 80 each day and 60 at night.  They love set outside and drink coffee in the morning.

How the food?

Mom will fix steak at times with onion rings.  They buy beef at the market and cut it up for steaks. She has to pounding it to try and make it so that they can eat it. Good flavor though.

See anyone special?

There was a Commonwealth meeting this week in Kampala.  They got to see the Queen as she came in as they were in Aura to take Oral (mom’s brother) to the Airport.

How was Thanksgiving?

They spent Thanksgiving traveled back to Sudan after dropping Oral off.

What’s coming up next?

They go next week to Aura again to pick up Derik Stantton from the airport. He is going to do three soccer clinics here in Sudan

What’s dad doing:

He is replastering the walls in the guest cottage for Derik’s arrival. They are bad because they don’t put enough cement in their plaster. It is making him tired at night as he is no used to working so hard.  He is also beginning to get all the workers here to work together as a team. It is hard as everyone does their own thing and never works together.

What mom has been up to?

She is teaches an English class to the ladies of the church on Friday afternoon. She loves it and is doing a great job.

How is the coffee there in Sudan?

Dad is roasting coffee from the plantation in our little pop corn popper. They say that it is so good. Good as anything they get from the U.S. It is so fun for them to start the generator and roast their coffee.
